Winter Love

"Winter Love" by Sam Sarah Design Studio
JCS Ornamnent Issue 2007

Another quick stitching finish. Although it seems to take me longer to finish things into pinkeeps, ornaments or whatever than to actually stitch the piece. Maybe I should have taken my mothers advice and taken home ec in high school instead of shop. Every time I call to ask her about sewing or a recipe she always reminds me I wouldn't need to ask if I had only taken home ec. Oh well. I think that's what mothers are for :) I think I do ok figuring it out as I go. I like to wing it.

I think this turned out super cute. I changed most all the colors, but kept the same color scheme. I added a beaded tassel that I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby and a little cording I made and it's good to go. I hope to keep with my goal of doing an ornament a month. So far so good, but it is only February. We'll see.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

I've Been Tagged

I love reading everyone's tags. It's interesting to find out unusual things about fellow stitchers and to find out I'm not the only crazy person out there. So here goes mine. Mylene tagged me to name 7 weird or random facts about myself .

First, the Rules:
1 Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2 Post the Rules on your blog.
3 Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4 Tag 7 people and link them.
5 Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Second, 7 weird or random facts about me:

1. I have my own motorcycle that I love to ride.
2. I love to organize and label things. Office Depot is the greatest place on Earth.
3. I have been to Disney World/Land 9 times and would go 9 more. I love Mickey.
4. I love to do home improvement/ do-it-yourself projects. I'm pretty handy with a skil saw.
5. I'm obsessive about my calendar and planning. I'm so worried about forgetting something or double planning.
6. I have never met an ice cream I didn't like.
7. Right now I have 7 pairs of running shoes in my closet. Maybe I should use them more with all that ice cream.

I'm new to this blog thing, so I don't have 7 blogging friends that haven't been tagged yet. So here are the ones I know:

Cole's Quilt Finish

This is Brianna. I chose to stitch a square for her quilt. I've read her story and she seems like a very special sweet young lady. Very touching.
I finished her square last night and got it all washed, pressed, and ready to go today. I thought this pattern was so cute and cheery. I hope it makes her smile.

"A Happy Heart" Stoney Creek Collection 2008

Sunday we had our monthly "Stitching and a Movie" at Bridget's house. It was a lot of fun. We watched No Reservations with Katherine Zeta Jones. It was very good. Bridget gave everyone a little happy because she felt guilty about holding us up on our round robin rotation. But it was a very nice gift. Each one fit us perfectly. A cute tin pail, some floss, fabric and candy. What could be better?!

I also kitted up two more projects to start. I've been doing so many Christmas things, I wanted something more springy. So I got a Lizzy Kate June FlipIt to make into a needle book and another LK "Love Crazy" sampler. Just something fun to break things up. I got Theresa to order my fabric today for the Nora Corbett Reindeer. I can't wait to get started.

I've been working on the Santa Sleigh Ride. Had to fix a mess up, but I think I'm back on track. It's hard to skip a large area on linen over 2 threads. At least I have trouble with it. Started another ornament from the JCS 2007 ornament issue. "Winter Love" or something like that. Almost done. That's all for now. I must go stitch. I think I'm addicted. It's all I can think about. I haven't gotten anything else done lately. I need help.

It's been a while. I haven't had time to post or read other blogs. I've been too busy stitching up a storm. I'll catch up with everyone soon, though. We woke up this morning to a terrible storm- thunder not snow- and the sound of fire trucks in our neighborhood. Lightening struck a tree by a house on the backside of the neighborhood and the house burned down. Please pray for this family. I'm not even sure of their name. But they have nothing left. It really puts a lot of things into perspective. I'm worried about what I will stitch next and they are now worried about where they will sleep tonight. We take so much for granted.

I finished the gingerbread houses and got one put together. Not the easiest thing I've ever done. A little more complicated than I would like. Made lots of progress on the Smiley Face square for my Cole's quilt project. Should finish that up in the next couple of days. I gave my first biscornu fob to my friend Jen for her birthday. She loved it and is already using it.

Check out my new stash. Our local shop owner went to market last weekend and brought back all kinds of cool stuff. We are very fortunate to have her. She let Jennifer and I plunder all we wanted. Check all the new stuff at her website. My favorites are the Nora Corbett Reindeer. I can't wait to start these. I have to find just the right fabric though. They don't seem like they will be that difficult.

Most of what I got was from Raise the Roof Designs. Our local shop owner is one of the designers. Pretty neat. Their stuff is a little off the wall, but funny. Their newest design is their take on all the village samplers that are popular right now. It's called the "Wrong Side of the Tracks." It will have a tattoo shop, bikini waxing, and a bail bonds shop. Too funny. Had to have it.
Going to Bridget's today for "Stitching and a Movie." Fun,fun, fun.

Who Needs A Rotation!

I don't know why I bothered making a stitching rotation if I'm not going to go by it. I don't like being tied down to such a schedule. I'm a moody stitcher. I just might not want to stitch on the gingerbread houses on Thursday. I thought it would help me finish started projects and not get side-tracked on something new and exciting. No such luck. Especially smaller quick projects. I really like to finish what I start before moving on, so this business of having several projects going at once is new for me. But I do like having choices for my moods.

This is also a "firsts" update. This weekend I designed my first piece, stitched it and then made it into a biscornu fob. My first biscornu and my first fob. Thought I would just knock it out all at once. It really came out of neccessity. I needed a pincushion. And I couldn't find a freebie design the size I wanted , so I just designed it myself. I think it turned out really cute. I used some of the floss my friend Jennifer gave me for Christmas and some Silkweaver fabric. I still have to put the cord on. I plan to attach a string of beads and lobster clasp to attach to the scissors. I had to run to Michaels last night for a bead emergency. I'm not sure what I'll do with this one. I thought about giving it to my friend for her birthday coming up, but I don't know. I want to make some more.

I have stitched quite a bit since my last post, but they are all big projects so no finishes except the fob. Here are some progress pics.

I got really frustrated with the gingerbread houses. I messed up big time and didn't realize it until much later. I have to rip quite a bit out, so I just put it aside for several days. I'm so close to finishing though.
Thanks for stopping by and for the comments I have recieved. Love it.

Have a great day!!
